Chinese leader receives Party General Secretary's special envoy

(VNA) - Hu Jintao, General Secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and President of China, warmly welcomed Nguyen Van Son, special envoy of Nong Duc Manh, General Secretary of the Communist Party of Viet Nam Central Committee, in Beijing on June 7.

Mr. Son, who is member of the Communist Party of Viet Nam (CPV) Central Committee and head of its Commission for External Relations, is on a visit to China to speak about the results of 10th Congress of the CPV.

He informed the Chinese leader of the positive results of the 10th Congress - a congress of intelligence, unity, renovation and sustainable development, reflecting the will and aspiration of the whole Party and the entire nation, ushering in a new stage in the development of socialism in Viet Nam, he said.

Mr.Son stressed that in implementing the Resolution of the 10th Party Congress, the Vietnamese Party, State and people will place importance to the traditional Viet Nam-China neighbourliness, friendship and cooperation, continuing to join hands with the Chinese side to lift the relationship to a new height.

He conveyed profound thanks from General Secretary Manh to China for their timely, effective assistance to Vietnamese fishermen caught in the recent Typhoon Chanchu.

On this occasion, special envoy Son renewed General Secretary Manh and State President Tran Duc Luong's invitations to General Secretary and President Hu to visit Viet Nam and attend the high-level APEC meeting in Ha Noi at the end of this year.

On behalf of the Chinese Party, State and people, General Secretary and President Hu congratulated Viet Nam on the success of the 10th congress of the CPV, and Nong Duc Manh on his re-election as General Secretary of the CPV.

The Chinese leader expressed his strong belief that the Vietnamese people, under the leadership of the CPV and General Secretary Manh, would successfully implement the Resolution of the 10th Party Congress and gain greater achievements for the goal of building Viet Nam into a socialist country with a rich people, a prosperous country, and an equal, democratic and civilized society.

The President said that China and its people highly value their traditional friendly relations with Viet Nam and will continue cooperating with the country to strengthen the friendship, following the motto of "good neighbours, good friends, good comrades and good partners" that has been put forth by the two Parties and States.

General Secretary and President Hu invited General Secretary Manh to visit China.

The same day, Mr. Son had a talk with leaders of the International Liaison Committee of the Communist Party of China, during which he informed the Chinese side of the new  policies of the 10th Congress of the CPV. The two sides also discussed measures to effectively implement the agreements that had been signed by the two Parties and States, together with international and regional issues of mutual concerns./.
